USC update: The Trojans clinched the Pac-12 South Division on Saturday with a 38-24 victory at Colorado. It means the Trojans will advance to the conference title game on Dec. 1 in Santa Clara, where they will face the North Division winner, a possibility of Stanford, Washington or Washington State. … Since moving to No. 11 in last week’s College Football Playoff rankings, many players have been hopeful they can make a late push toward a playoff berth as well. USC has won three consecutive games since a loss at Notre Dame in October, upending Pac-12 South foes Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State by an average margin of 20 points. … Over the three-game winning streak, a backfield led by Sam Darnold and Ronald Jones has buoyed the Trojans. Darnold has thrown seven touchdowns to one interception, and Jones has rushed for 552 yards. … USC won the last two games against rival UCLA.

UCLA’s last game: After finishing 4-8 last season, an effort that landed Jim Mora on the hot seat, the Bruins inched toward bowl eligibility with a 44-37 win over Arizona State on Saturday night. … After missing most of the past two games because of a concussion, Josh Rosen, UCLA’s prolific junior quarterback, bounced back to throw for 381 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Against the Sun Devils, he completed just 56 percent of his passes after starting 3 of 10. Rosen did not play against USC last season after he had undergone season-ending shoulder surgery weeks earlier. … Rosen is third in the Pac-12 in passing yards (3,094) and in touchdowns (21). … The Bruins overcame a 14-point deficit in the first quarter, improving to 5-0 at the Rose Bowl this season. They are 0-5, however, on the road.
