Mrs. Sondra Louise “Sandy” Moon, daughter of Les Mintken and Dorothy Snyder was born on August 7, 1939 in Gurley, Nebraska.
A graduate of Corvallis High, Sandy met the love of her life, Jack Moon, and was married on December 7, 1956. She began her married life as an Army wife and stay-at-home mom. After Jack’s time in the service, they followed Jack’s work through much of Oregon.
Sandy enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to their six children for 14 years, making many memories.
She enjoyed camping, water skiing, horseback riding, baking, sewing, singing and dancing, teaching Sunday school and so much more.
Sandy lost the love of her life in 1970 and began working at the Cannery in Corvallis, moving to Jackson Meat Company in Philomath and later working for Campbell’s Cleaners for 12 years before moving to her final job at Western Pulp where she retired 20 years ago.
She’s been a member of the Philomath community for the last 44 years.
Much of Sandy’s retirement was spent enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing BINGO and Solitaire, doing puzzles and more. To many, Sandy could be known as a Proverbs 31 woman.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Richard “Dick” Mintken, Alvin Mintken, Elwood Mintken and Roy Mintken; as well as her children Kathy Wells, Daniel Moon and Dennis Moon; and her grandson Terry Moon Jr.
Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind including her children Terry Moon Sr, Les Moon, and Linda Thomson; son-in-law Rick Wells; daughter-in-law Rhonda Moon; 11 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
A potluck style celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the BBQ grounds on the Bell Ranch in Philomath (530 Heritage Hills Drive). Heritage Hills…
