Born and raised in Milwaukee, a lover of life and and a connector of people, I’m a mother, a real estate developer, a philanthropist, a singer and more. And last, but most definitely not least, I love Milwaukee!
I often get asked – by people I know and don’t know alike, out of towners and MKE locals – what is there to do here? Is there any live music tonight? What’s a good place for a date? What’s a good place to hang with a group of friends? You get the point …
So I’ve decided to share my weekly picks of cool happenings in and around our lovely city. I may repeat some “regulars,” and the list by no means is comprehensive, but it will give you glimpse of some of the great things our great city has to offer for entertainment.
Saturday, Aug. 5
Head on over to Bronzeville to kick off Bronzeville Week (Aug. 5-12) with the Bronzeville Cultural and Arts Festival. This festival is located on North Avenue, between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Drive and 7th Street. There are three stages showcasing Milwaukee’s talent including live bands, spoken word, youth performers and more. The festival starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Gibraltar will be playing Motown hits all night, starting at 10 p.m. They invite you to lounge or dance, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself – it’s such a cool spot. No cover charge.
Sunday, Aug. 6
Soooo, today I ran across something new, and I’m so excited about it! Jazz Visions on the Lake will be held at the Summerfest Grounds from 2-6 p.m. – and it’s free! We are a great place on a great lake, and the Summerfest grounds are so awesome. Even with all of the festivals, I wish the grounds were utilized more. Diana Ross’ show at the BMO Harris Pavilion was a great use and now this! I can’t wait to see what else is in store. This event will showcase three bands, one of them being one of my favorites: the Kevin Hayden Band. Check it out!
Rewind … you should know by now that I love Sunday brunch #SundayFunday. Well Central…
