The Questa Farmers Market, which is being led by a community group, will take place in the village center on Sunday afternoons. The market is helping keep dollars local, helping locals find fresh food and supporting entrepreneurs.

There is a history of farmers markets in Questa, responding to the ebb and flow of population and production. All of these past versions inspired the Questa Farmers Market of today, which welcomes farmers and gardeners, bakers and makers, artists and youth from Questa and beyond.

The market organizers want to serve agriculturalists in Northern New Mexico and support economic development. They state they want the market to be a source of fresh, local food, supporting community activity and exchange. They say they have plans for some special market days – including feasts – so stay tuned.

Sunday (July 16), puppeteer Cristina Masoliver, with Puppet Theatre Los Titiriteros, will perform “Los Flamencos” at the market. Show time is at 1:30 p.m. Music by a band called The Skirts will follow. The skirts are described as a five-piece acoustic roots band from Kansas. Organizers suggest you come early and have lunch. There are prepared foods, watermelon water and direct trade coffee, as well as plenty of things to take home – veggies, tortillas, breads, jellies, honey, eggs and herbs.
