Ocean Park Standoff, an American pop band that has performed on national TV and has a hit on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart, will perform at St. Clair County Community College.

“‘Good News’ has gotten us in so many doors and ears we never would’ve expected,” said Ethan Thompson of the band’s hit via email. He is one of the three band members. “It’s gotten us from the ‘Today Show’ to ‘The Late Late Show,’ from the East Coast to the West Coast, and on festivals and tours. It’s enabled us the freedom to do the band as our main focus and we are pumped for the music we have coming up, as we’ve just kept writing since we released our EP in March. Keep your ears open!”

The group performed its single “Good News” on NBC’s Today Show, and in June, the song was No. 13 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart. Members include Samantha Ronson, Pete Nappi and Ethan Thompson.

“We just started performing at colleges and this will be around show number five,” Thompson said. “We always walk the campus early in the day or the night before to get a feel for where we are about to play. If you see us say hey! Every college show is unique and always a good time.”

The show is 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the SC4 Fine Arts Theatre. Tickets are $5 for current SC4 students, $20 for alumni with Skippers OneCard or alumni card as available at the door, and $25 for adults.

“The college strives to offer music for every age group and interest,” said Celeste Skalnek, SC4’s director of community and alumni relations.

This is the first concert of its kind at SC4, Skalnek said. Other pop groups have opened shows, but they were usually local blues or blue grass groups.

Ocean Park Standoff will bring a new feel to the theater.
