MyHome, the Manhattan-based renovation company, recently completed a full apartment renovation at 300 East 54th Street in New York City. The project was lead by MyHome Remodeling Consultant, Andrew Rooney. Rooney and his team were tasked with completely transforming a dark, dreary and dated apartment into a space that felt extremely clean and light with open, airy spaces.
Having a kitchen closed off from the rest of the apartment, the homeowner dreamt of creating a kitchen that unfolded into the living room for a more bright and open feel. To obtain a more modern style, they also wanted to install overhead lighting over the island, with controlled lighting on the kitchen island. To bring their vision to life, the team at MyHome removed all the walls enclosing the kitchen, allowing for natural light to shine across the room. Unique to this remodel, they installed large, attractive Sagustine brackets on the island to allow for an overhang without the need for column supports. To put in controlled lighting on the island, MyHome ran electric under the hardwood floor.
Always expecting the unexpected, MyHome contractors were prepared when they realized they were going to have to remove a level of concrete flooring that was over the original slab in order to lay down the hardwood floors. Once the concrete was removed, hardwood floors were installed and refinished to flawlessly match the floors throughout the rest of the home.
