The Midtown Reader will be hosting a Read-A-Thon in store to support national Banned Books Week on Monday, Sept. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store at 1123 Thomasville Road will host local authors, community leaders and concerned citizens who will each read for 15 minutes from their favorite banned book throughout the day.
 
In addition to the Read-A-Thon, Midtown Reader will have a special story hour on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. featuring the previously banned book, “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. The story hour will be joined by a “Wild Things” storybook character in costume and will include crafts, coloring activities and snacks.
