CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are investigating Charlotte’s 31st homicide of the year after a man was shot and killed overnight in west Charlotte.
Channel 9 was first on the scene just after 2 a.m. on Botany Street, near West Charlotte High School.
Detectives said when they arrived, they found the victim, 30-year-old Keith Ross, suffering from a gunshot wound inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Ross was shot outside and ran into the house for help, where he collapsed.
Neighbors were surprised to find police cars, crime scene techs and crime tape in their neighborhood.
“It’s very nice (here). It’s a quiet neighborhood and I like it because mostly elderly people live over here,” said resident Gwendolyn Herod.
No arrests have been made and officers are canvassing the neighborhood, looking for witnesses.
“I heard some shots, but it was so close I thought it was like a car backfiring,” Herod said.
“No, never have nothing like this before,” Arthur Davis said.
