Lincoln City Libraries invites children and adults to try an “Hour of Code” during Computer Science Education Week Monday through Dec. 11.
The Hour of Code is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
Lincoln City Libraries events next week include:
* Monday through Dec. 11, Gere Branch Library, 2400 S. 56th St. Library staff will assist participants using the public internet computers to select Hour of Code tutorials to match their interests and abilities. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
* Wednesday, 4-5 p.m., South Branch Library, 2675 South St. #LNK Coding Women will help participants write their first computer program while learning basic concepts and using drag-and-drop programming. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Call 402-441-8570.
* Dec. 10, 10:15-11:15 a.m., Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th St. Children in preschool through fifth grade are invited to use the Kodable programming curriculum to learn the basics of computer programming. Pre-registration is required. Call 402-441-4460.
