Inter Milan caretaker boss Stefano Vecchi says that Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa needs to reflect on why he has not been getting in the team rather than getting angry.
The Brazilian was once again overlooked during Inter’s 3-1 win at Lazio on Sunday night, and he did not take kindly to the snub. Once Ever Banega was sent on as Inter’s final substitute, the 20-year-old headed straight for the dressing room.
Vecchi had instead given 18-year-old Andrea Pinamonti his Serie A debut and suggested afterwards that Gabigol’s attitude was the reason for his omission.
Gabigol is yet to start a Serie A game for Inter and has scored once in nine substitute appearances.
“Maybe he did [expect to come on], but so did everybody on the bench,” Vecchi told Mediaset. “Probably he has high expectations, but so too do the club and the fans in him. It’s not always the coach’s fault.
