Fulton County 4-H General Show held – News – Canton Daily Ledger – Canton, IL

The Fulton County 4-H General Show was held Saturday, July 8 at Cuba High School. Three hundred seventy projects were exhibited by Fulton County 4-H members age 8-19. Almost 90 area people served as judges, superintendents, and assistants.

The Fulton County 4-H General Show was held Saturday, July 8 at Cuba High School. Three hundred seventy projects were exhibited by Fulton County 4-H members age 8-19. Almost 90 area people served as judges, superintendents, and assistants.

4-H members’ projects are judged conference-style. If the 4-H member is present, he or she brings the project to the judge, and the judge discusses the project with the member, asking questions and offering suggestions. This one-on-one attention and advice is very valuable to the 4-Hers as a way to learn more about their projects.

The projects are rated Blue (Superior), Red (Good), or White (Fair). Best of Show winners are selected in each area.  State Fair delegates and alternates are selected in most of the project areas.

Best of Show winners in the Foods project area were as follows: 4-H Cooking 101-Lexi Joplin; 4-H Cooking 201-Abbie Stevenson; 4-H Cooking 301-Hannah Stevenson; 4-H Cooking 401-Jaclyn Janssen; Food Science-Jaclyn Janssen; Can My Fruits and Vegetables – Tanner Putman; Freeze My Fruits and Vegetables-Samuel Riggins; Make My Pickles-Jozey Koile; and Make My Jam-Samuel Riggins.

Best of Show winners in the Agronomy and Horticulture project areas were as follows:
Corn-Daniel Williams; Small Grains-Daniel Williams; Soybeans-Cole Tarochione; Plants and Soils-Tanner Putman; Floriculture-Katie Patterson; Horticulture Displays-Kate Hampton; and Vegetable Gardening-Jessica Tompkins.
