CSUF women’s soccer bows out of NCAA tournament, looks to go farther next year – Orange County Register

Dreams have died hard for Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer for the last three seasons.

A penalty kick loss in 2015 to USC in the NCAA Tournament First Round. Another penalty kick loss in 2016 to UC Irvine in the Big West Conference Semifinal.

In CSUF’s 1-0 loss to Pepperdine in this year’s NCAA Tournament First Round on Nov. 11, it was Pepperdine’s 87th-minute goal that sealed the heartbreak.

“Initial reaction is devastation,” said head coach Demian Brown, now in his 11th year at the team. “There’s a lot of hard work that (has been) put into all we do.”
