Celebrities will join with local residents to honor four cancer survivors and support cancer patient care during Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital’s 14th annual Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend.
The two-day fundraiser will start Saturday at the Mid-America Center, 1 Arena Way.
The weekend’s centerpiece is the Spirit of Courage Gala on Saturday. It begins with cocktails and a silent auction at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7, followed by entertainment, a live auction and an awards ceremony.
Honorees this year will be Mark Engelke from the Glenwood area and the Rev. John McCreedie, Mindy Miller and George Smith from Council Bluffs.
“Once again, we are blessed to have four strong, amazing individuals who are allowing us to tell their stories,” said Tara Slevin, vice president of development and volunteer services at Jennie Edmundson. “We’re hoping for a record-breaking crowd at the dinner, although there are still seats available.”
Dave Webber will return to serve as master of ceremonies.
